Oskarshamn Municipal
Oskarshamn city were merged with the rural municipalities Döderhult, Kristdala and Misterhult in 1967 and converted into Oskarshamn Municipal 1971.
Population: Around 26 200 people.
Area: 1054 km³, including forests (912 km³), cultivated land (37 km³) and urban areas about (13 km³).
Mainland Coast: Total length is 320 km.
Islands in the sea: 5429, the shores measures the 1170 km.
Land area: 4811 hectares.
Largest island: Runnö with 589 acres.
Lakes: 553 with a total area of 48 km³ of open water.
Nature reservations: 19 and 7 new going on, of which Misterhults Nature Reservation is the municipality's and also the county's largest with 8522 hectares.
Nationalpark: Blå Jungfrun (Blue Maiden) in Kalmar sound, is 198 hectares, of which 132 hectares is water. It was formed in 1926 and was extended in the 1988. The island is also called the "Blåkulla" and is one of Swedens most mythical places.

Kalmar County
Oskarshamn Municipal is one of twelve municipalities in the county of Kalmar. The county consists of two provinces - eastern part of Småland and Öland. Kalmar has three percent of Sweden's population and area, 233 944 inhabitants and 11 170 km², giving a population density of 21 inhabitants per km². Of the county's 12 municipalities, only Kalmar, Västervik and Oskarshamn, have more than 25 000 inhabitants. The county has in the past 10 years witnessed a considerable decline in population, in total around 10 000 people, depending on the birth deficit and people moving from the county. In 2005/2006 had Kalmar 233 944 inhabitants.
The mainland part of the Kalmar County is just over 250 km and 70 km wide at its widest point. Öland - Sweden's second largest island - is 130 km long and 20 km at the widest point. The county has more than 2 000 lakes larger than one hectare and an archipelago of some 10 000 islands, islets and rocks. The county's coastline, including islands, is the country's longest and amounts to 4750 km. In this, the Öland coast line of about 500 km, is not included.
Over 60% of the county consists of forested land, mostly owned by private forest owners. The county has twice the proportion of people employed in forestry compared to the national average. Although agriculture is big in Kalmar County with approximately 190 000 hectares of agricultural land spread over 130 000 hectares of fields and 60 000 hectares natural pasture. Kalmar is also the fourth largest county regarding fishing. In addition to the agricultural industries Kalmar have a well-developed manufacturing industry, which employs about 25% of the working population, the national average is around 19%.
