Welcome to Oskarshamn Airport

Oskarshamn Airport is located 12 km north of Oskarshamn, about 10 minutes by car. Only a few steps from the air. The airport is owned and operated by the Oskarshamn Utveckling AB, which in turn is owned by the municipality of Oskarshamn.

The airport was built in 1970 and then with a 900 m runway. The runway has been extended to 1500 meters in two stages. From the beginning there was only one NDB beacon. Now there are two NDB beacons, a modern instrument landing system (ILS) and DME (distance measuring equipment). Approach lights have also been upgraded to a high standard.

Several airlines have flown from Oskarshamn Airport over the years, to Bromma and Arlanda for example. For example, SydAero, AVIA, Holmstrom Air, Swedline, Highland Air and Skyways Regional.

Air traffic to Stockholm began with a Britten-Norman Islander with capacity for 7 passengers. 1972 it was replaced with the Twin Otter, with capacity for 18 passengers. For some years, two Twin Otters flew Oskarshamn-Hultsfred-Bromma and Oskarshamn-Västervik-Bromma. In the early 80's, traffic moved from Bromma to Arlanda. 1983 the Twin Otter was replaced with Short 330 with capacity for 28 passengers. This larger aircraft also required flight attendants, which had previously not been available. Beech 99, Cessna 404, BAE Jetstream 32 and Saab 340 are other types of aircraft operated in scheduled service from Oskarshamn.

In 2011, 12 646 passengers flew to and from Oskarshamn airport with regular service. There is an increase of 9.9% compared to 2010. 547 persons were carried by air taxi or other commercial flights.
